Support for Foster
Children

We ensure that our children receive the utmost care and support, acknowledging the diverse needs and unique challenges they may face.

Support for Children in Foster Care: Providing Compassionate Care

At Family Fostering Partners, our priority is ensuring that children in foster care feel supported not only by their foster parents, but by the professionals that surround them. As a foster care agency, we are committed to ensuring that every child in the care of our foster parents feel safe and cared for, and that as a team, we provide the best possible support for children in foster care. This requires ensuring that the wellbeing of the children in our care is at the centre of every decision that we make, only then can we ensure the best support for foster children.

Children in Foster Care: Nurturing Healing and Stability

We understand that children entering foster care will likely have experienced extreme difficulties and challenges in their lives. Many will have endured abuse or neglect and will require foster parents with specific skills and training to offer them the stability and security they require to thrive. Consequently, our foster parents play an integral role in providing a stable, nurturing, and supportive home environment for children in foster care. Through specialised training focused on fostering attachment and positive relationships, our foster parents are equipped to help support children in foster care to heal and grow.

At Family Fostering Partners, we provide ongoing training to keep our foster parents informed about the latest legislation and best practices in fostering. By creating supportive settings for our foster parents to learn, they in turn are able to better support foster children in their care to understand and overcome their past experiences, promoting their overall well-being.

Support for Children in Foster Care: Holistic Care and Connections

Maintaining children’s connections to their culture, religion, and community is vital for their overall wellness and sense of belonging, this can only be achieved with the full support from their foster parents. We recognise the importance of providing both foster parents and foster children with adequate support to accomplish this aim.

Each child has unique needs, and we work closely with foster parents and other professionals to create personalised and bespoke care plans for each child in foster care. Where we are not able to provide direct support ourselves, we support foster parents to access essential services such as counsellors, educational psychologists, play therapists etc, ensuring that we advocate for the correct support to be given. This ensures that children who are fostered receive the support they need and deserve.

Testimonials from individuals like Davin, a care experienced individual, highlight the joy and sense of belonging found in foster families. The support given to Davin as a child in foster care has had a transformative impact on his life. Click here to listen to Davin’s testimonial.

What Can You Expect from Family Fostering Partners?

At Family Fostering Partners, we offer a range of support services to ensure that children who are fostered receive the right support from their foster parents, and that foster parents also feel supported in their vital role.

As soon as you’ve submitted your application to become a foster parent, you’ll be assigned an Assessing Social Worker who will guide you through the application process and ensure a smooth assessment experience. They will answer all of your questions about how best to support children in foster care and have honest and open conversations with you about support services that are available through us, and through external services like Foster Talk.

Throughout your time fostering with us we will provide continuous and comprehensive training customised to your needs and the needs of the children in your care. Topics include therapeutic parenting, internet safety and managing challenging behaviours. By tailoring the training to suit the children you care for, children in foster care are better supported and understood.

Participate in regular support groups where you can connect with other foster parents, exchange ideas, and receive guidance from our experienced team. Children who are fostered also have the opportunity to take part in our annual fun days, and as a fostering community, we organise ‘days out’ with other fostering families within Family Fostering Partners. This support helps children who are fostered to feel part of a group and is a fantastic way to make new friends and feel part of a community.

Join our private social media groups where our foster parents share successes, exchange advice, and build connections with others in our agency. Peer support is crucial to those fostering children and helps to build a support network of other foster parents in your local area.

We are available around the clock, including evenings and holidays to offer support and advice whenever you need it. Whether that is support for the children in foster care, or for yourself, we are only ever a phone call away!

Every one of our foster families receive a dedicated professional fostering link worker to provide ongoing support, supervision, and guidance. Your link worker will be your “go to” person at Family Fostering Partners; they advocate for the right support to be given to the foster children in your care, and they form a crucial part of your wider fostering support network.

Every foster parent at Family Fostering Partners receives full membership to Foster Talk, a not-for-profit organisation offering support services to foster parents across the UK. Through Foster Talk, you will have access to support but also discounts, savings, and advice. By utilising this advice and support, you can better support the foster children in your care.
