We are an independent family run agency, who are dedicated to making the fostering application process run as smoothly as possible. At Family Fostering Partners we offer our foster parents the highest level of support. We’re here to help and assist you along each step of the process, from the moment you apply to start fostering, through to being approved, and beyond!
At Family Fostering Partners we really care about our foster parents, which is why we offer a bespoke ‘Be There to Care’ financial incentive scheme. This scheme is designed to help to ease any potential financial worries for those who wish to foster and are giving up full time work to do so.
Foster Care Application FAQs
What do I need to be able to apply to be a foster parent?
To apply to be a foster parent, you must be at least 21 years old and have a spare room in your home. You do not need any special qualifications or parenting experience to be a foster parent, but the ability to provide a safe, stable, and supportive environment for a child is essential.
How long does the application process take?
The fostering application process typically takes four months from the time of your initial inquiry to approval. During this period, you’ll complete a thorough assessment process. This includes interviews, training sessions, home visits, background checks and the collection of references. Although it may feel lengthy, this time allows us to get to know you and ensure fostering is the right fit for you and your family, in turn ensuring that you feel ready and prepared for the role ahead.
Can I use the above form if I want to transfer agencies?
Yes! If you’re already an approved foster parent and want to transfer to Family Fostering Partners, then we’ll work with you and your current agency to ensure continuity of care for any children placed with you. Your skills and experience as a foster parent are highly valued, we’ll listen to any of your concerns and guide you through the transfer process step by step.
