Fostering Stories from Real People.
At Family Fostering Partners, we believe the best way to understand fostering is by hearing fostering stories from those who experience it every day: our incredible foster parents and the children whose lives have been transformed by their care.
Steve’s Fostering Story
Steve has been fostering for over 13 years. Reflecting on his journey, he says:
“Being a foster parent gives me a sense of satisfaction; it’s making a difference to children’s lives.”
He remembers his very first placement:
“We felt anxious and nervous, but at the same time, excited. Fostering with FFP has been excellent – it’s that support and being part of a team.”
Steve admits fostering isn’t always easy:
“It’s been a roller coaster ride, but very, very rewarding. You won’t know what it’s like until you try it. But along the way, you’ll get plenty of support from the agency and training to help you.”
He also wants to challenge misconceptions:
“Some people are apprehensive because of what they’ve heard about foster children. Believe me, it’s not as it sounds. These children need love and affection – all of them.”
Davin’s Fostering Story
Davin entered foster care at just two years old and spent years moving between fostering homes. That all changed when he was welcomed by Jackie and Andy, foster parents with Family Fostering Partners, who he lived with for 10 years before moving to Cardiff to pursue his acting dreams.
“I felt nervous the first night staying with them, but also happy, relieved and excited that I had finally found a family and a place where I belonged.”
For Davin, their care was life-changing:
“Without their support and kindness, I don’t know where I’d be today. I wouldn’t be the person I am without them. The happiest thing for me was being part of a family – not just Jackie and Andy, but their extended family too. After years of moving around, I finally found my family and a place where I belonged.”
