Support For Foster Parents
At Family Fostering Partners, we believe in providing the highest level of guidance and support for foster parents, ensuring the fostering journey is positive and rewarding for everyone involved.
A Collaborative Approach to Foster Care Support
At Family Fostering Partners, we understand the invaluable role foster parents play in creating safe, nurturing homes for vulnerable children and young people. Every foster parent has their own reason for opening their door, but kindness and compassion unite them all.
Foster parents do far more than provide day-to-day care. They are advocates, mentors, and role models, helping children to grow in confidence and find stability. That’s why our commitment to foster care support is at the heart of everything we do.
We provide practical guidance, emotional reassurance, and consistent support for foster parents and their families at every stage of the journey. With the right backing, foster parents can feel confident and resilient, giving children who have faced challenges the security and encouragement they need.
The Support For Foster Parents We Provide
Why Choose Family Foster Partners? When you choose to foster with Family Fostering Partners, you can expect dedicated support every step of the way. Our role is to stand beside you, making sure you never feel alone in your fostering journey. From the first conversation about becoming a carer to the daily realities of family life, we provide tailored support for foster parents so you can focus on what matters most: giving children stability and care.
When you have submitted an application form, you’ll be assigned an Assessing Social Worker who will support you through the fostering application process. They will address any questions you may have and ensure a seamless assessment experience.
We offer comprehensive training tailored to your support needs and the unique needs of the children in your care. Our qualified trainers cover a wide range of topics, including therapeutic parenting, internet safety and managing challenging behaviours, to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge. As the children in your care grow, new support needs may be identified, and our training manager can ensure that you, and the children in your care, receive tailored training to support you in your foster care journey. Foster care support groups play a huge part of the package of support that we offer at Family Fostering Partners. By participating in regular foster care support groups, you can connect with fellow foster parents, exchange ideas, and receive guidance from our experienced team. These gatherings provide a supportive environment for sharing experiences and learning from one another.
Our foster support groups take place at a location close to your home, and you will meet with the same people regularly to build your support network and to feel part of a fostering community. In addition to seeking support from fellow foster parents, our support groups are also an opportunity to ask the fostering team any questions. In turn, they come to the foster care support groups with updates from the agency, activities and guest speakers.
Our foster parents are invited to join our private social media groups. These groups serve as a platform for supporting other foster parents in your local community. In these groups, our foster parents share their successes, seek advice, and build connections with other foster parents within the agency. Reminders about foster care support groups, events in the local area or advice and tips are also posted regularly.
We understand that fostering comes with its challenges, which is why we offer round-the-clock foster support and advice. Our team is always available to assist you whenever you need it. Being a close-knit foster care agency, all members of the team will be aware of any foster support needs that your family may have, and are well equipped to offer that support, no matter what time of day or night!
Your family will be assigned a dedicated professional link worker who will provide ongoing foster care support, supervision, and guidance throughout your fostering journey. They will be your main point of contact within the agency, and will visit you regularly at your home. They may also attend foster support groups and training sessions. The role of our link workers is to support you, the children in your care and your family.
As a foster parent with Family Fostering Partners, our foster care support extends beyond what we offer internally. You will also receive full membership to Foster Talk, a non-profit organization offering support services to foster parents across the UK. Through Foster Talk, you’ll have access to invaluable advice, support for foster parents and the fostering household, free legal and medical advice, as well as various discounts and savings.
Financial Support for Foster Parents
We know that fostering is a full-time commitment, and the financial side is an important consideration for anyone thinking about the role. At Family Fostering Partners, we ensure that foster parents receive a competitive fostering allowance, designed to recognise both the cost of caring for a child and the time, energy, and love that goes into fostering. This allowance helps cover everyday expenses such as food, clothing, and travel, while also providing you with an income for your dedication.
To make fostering more accessible, we’ve also introduced our Be There to Care scheme. This unique initiative offers a guaranteed income during the assessment stage, allowing you to step back from employment and focus on becoming a foster parent without the worry of lost earnings. It’s our way of showing that we are fully invested in supporting you from the very beginning of your fostering journey.
When combined with ongoing foster care support and training, our fostering allowances and financial schemes give you the stability and confidence to provide the best care possible for children who need it most.
