Fostering in Hereford at Stretton Sugwas Church of England Primary School
On Friday, we had the pleasure of attending a Stretton Sugwas C of E Primary School in Hereford, and what a fantastic day it was! It was the perfect setting to meet new faces, connect with families, and talk about something close to our hearts—fostering in Hereford.
Armed with plenty of glitter, our team offered free glitter tattoos to children throughout the day. From sparkly stars to dazzling dinosaurs, our glitter station was a huge hit! It was lovely to see children proudly showing off their new designs, and their enthusiasm gave us countless chances to chat with parents who were interested in fostering.

Alongside the fun, we were there to spread the word about who we are and what we do as an Independent Fostering Agency. We handed out leaflets, answered questions, and shared information about how fostering works, what support we provide, and why it’s such a rewarding experience.

One topic that came up a lot during the day was how fostering can work when you already have children of your own. It’s a question we’re often asked—and an important one. The truth is many of our foster parents successfully foster alongside raising their birth children. In fact, involving birth children in the fostering journey can be an incredibly positive and enriching experience for the whole family.
Here is what CJ has to say, who fosters alongside his son.
At Family Fostering Partners we always take the time to consider the needs of your current family and make sure that any child or children that come to live with you will be the right fit with your family; age, personality, interests. We also offer guidance and support specifically for birth children, helping them to understand the process and give them the space to share their own feelings along the way.
If you’ve ever wondered whether fostering in Hereford might work for your family, even with young children at home, we’d love to talk more about it.

Many people were surprised to learn that there is such a high need for foster parents locally, and it was heartening to speak with those who were interested in learning more. Whether people took a leaflet for themselves or passed it on to a friend or family member, every conversation mattered.
Events like these remind us how powerful community engagement can be. A simple chat at a school fete might be the first step in someone’s journey to fostering in Hereford—and that’s why we love being part of them.
